- An analysis of 83 studies shows that optimism is predictive of physical health.

- A 4-year study of over 20,000 British adults showed that those high in optimism had 20% less cardiovascular disease-related deaths than those with average optimism levels.

- A study of 97,000 women followed over eight years, showed that the top quarter optimists had 30% less cardiovascular disease-related deaths than those in the bottom quarter pessimists.

- A study of 1,306 U.S. war veterans tracked over ten years showed that the most optimistic ones had 25% less cardiovascular disease-related deaths than those with average optimism levels.
